Know Before It Happens: Power Outages & Generator Safety ⚡❄️
Winter storms can cause power outages due to ice, wind, and high electricity demand. Being prepared helps you stay safe and connected. If you plan to use a generator during an outage, make sure you follow safety guidelines to avoid hazards like carbon monoxide or electrical injury.
Power Outages:

• Downed power lines or tree limbs touching lines? Call 713-207-2222 immediately
🚫 Do NOT attempt to remove limbs or power lines yourself — it’s extremely dangerous.
Generator Safety:
• Only use generators outdoors, away from doors & windows
• Never connect a generator directly to your home’s wiring
• Install carbon monoxide detectors nearby if possible
