🚨 Statewide Emergency Alert Test – April 2, 2026 🚨
The City of Katy will participate in a statewide test of public warning systems coordinated by the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM).
⏱️ Thursday, April 2 | Between 10:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
This exercise is designed to:
✔️ Evaluate the effectiveness of emergency alert systems
✔️ Strengthen readiness before disasters occur
✔️ Ensure alerts are delivered quickly, accurately, and reliably
What Residents Should Expect
During the testing window, you may receive multiple test alerts on your mobile device or through other communication platforms, including:
📱 Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA)
📢 KTALERT (City of Katy’s notification system)
🌎 Alerts from neighboring cities, counties, or agencies
Because this is a statewide, multi-agency test, receiving more than one alert is expected. Alerts are based on system coverage and cell towers—not just city boundaries.
🔔 Important Reminders
• This is only a test. No action is required.
• Do NOT call 911 unless you have an actual emergency
• Do not disable emergency alerts—they are critical for life safety
• All alerts will be clearly marked as TEST messages
Regular testing helps us identify improvements, build confidence in our systems, and ensure we’re ready when it matters most.
Thank you for helping keep Katy safe and prepared.
