Harris County Flood Control District hosting webinar for FEMA floodplain map updates

The Harris County Flood Control District (HCFCD) is hosting a webinar for the general public to explain the new draft floodplain maps from the Federal Emergency Management Administration.

What residents need to know: During the webinars, HCFCD officials will go over major changes in the floodplain maps and how residents can utilize the county's online interactive tool to view the floodplain changes.

The maps are still in draft form and meant only for technical review. They are not final or regulatory, and there are no changes at this time to flood insurance requirements or development regulations. These draft updates apply only to areas within Harris County; at this time, no changes are proposed for residents of Fort Bend or Waller counties.

Residents can register to join the free webinar below:

This session is open to everyone and require no prior knowledge. Homeowners, renters, and anyone interested in understanding flood risk in their community are encouraged to attend.

Please note that the City of Katy is unable to provide comments or respond to questions regarding the draft maps.
