That means the City of Katy’s water pumpage is on the rise. What can you do to help conserve water and keep our community out of mandatory water restrictions?
🌱 Irrigation Tips
• Limit outdoor watering and skip a watering day when possible.
• Water during the early morning or evening to reduce evaporation.
• Check sprinkler heads and irrigation systems for leaks, breaks and overspray.
• Make sure you’re watering your lawn—not the sidewalk or street.
• Adjust irrigation schedules after rainfall.
🏠Household Water-Saving Tips
• Run dishwashers and washing machines only with full loads.
• Turn off the faucet while brushing your teeth or shaving.
• Take shorter showers.
• Check faucets, toilets and hoses for leaks. Even a small leak can waste a surprising amount of water!
đźš— Pressure Washing, Vehicles & Pools
• Delay nonessential pressure-washing projects until conditions improve.
• Postpone draining and refilling swimming pools whenever possible.
• Use a pool cover to reduce evaporation.
• Skip washing your vehicle at home—or visit a local car wash that recycles or reclaims its water. It’s less work for you, conserves water and supports a local business!
Small changes can make a big difference. By conserving water now, we can reduce demand on our water system and help prevent the need for mandatory restrictions.
