Courtroom Decorum 

  • Conduct yourself in a manner respectful of the Court's authority and function 
  • Dress in a dignified and respectful manner 
  • No electronic or recording devices may enter the Court
  • It is NOT THE COURT'S DUTY to represent you
  • Be on time
  • Rise when the Judge enters and remain standing until the Judge or Bailiff announces "Be Seated", or until the Judge is seated. 
  • Do not argue with the Court 
  • Do not rest arms on the bench or on the file ledge portion of the Judge's Bench 
  • Do not bring food or drinks into the Courtroom 
  • Courtroom visitors should not engage in conversation while the Court is in session 
  • Racist, sexist, obscene, or profane language is prohibited unless it is pertinent to a case, and is elicited and quoting from facts in the case 
  • Do not enter the courtroom excessively and do not slam doors 
  • Do nothing to disturb or distract the Court
  • Do not bring infants or young children into a Court proceeding 
  • All property must be treated with respect 
  • No reading in the Courtroom during proceedings 


Dress Code 

Any violation of this dress code will result in appropriate action at the Judge's discretion. 

Unacceptable attire includes, but is not limited to:

  • Shorts
  • Tank tops
  • Baggy pants
  • Flip-flops
  • Hats
  • Muscle shirts
  • Clothing indicating gang affiliation, clothing with offensive, vulgar, racist , sexist, obscene, suggestive words, slogans, depictions or pictures, including grotesque creatures 
  • Pajamas
  • Facial or body piercings which are visible and worn to provoke emotion, disruption or distract from the Court
