Methods of Payment

• By Mail: Check or Money Order made payable to Katy Municipal Court, 5432 Franz Rd, Katy, TX 77493
• 24/7 Dropbox: Located in front of the Municipal Court building (cash is not recommended)
• In Person: Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM

All forms of payment accepted: (no personal checks for warrants)

Credit/debit card payments will incur 2.5% processing fee in person. Processing fees will be different online. 

Juveniles are required to appear in open court with a parent or legal guardian. Payments cannot be made online. See Juveniles page for more info.

Defendants charged with Class C - Family Violence MUST appear in open court. Texas Code of Criminal Procedure, Article 45.0211(b).

Pleas

GUILTY is a formal admission of guilt wherein the defendant confesses to committing the charged crime.

NO CONTEST means the defendant is not contesting the charges filed against them. Although this plea has a similar legal effect as pleading guilty, the defendant does not admit or deny the charges. 

NOT GUILTY means you are informing the court that you deny guilt in this case and that the state must prove what it has charged against you. Not Guilty plea must be made in front of the Prosecutor on your court date. You have the right to a trial by judge or jury. You may hire an attorney to represent you or you may defend yourself, but no one other than an attorney may represent you. 

Fines

Fine amounts include all State fees as mandated by the state legislature. Fine amounts are subject to change. We urge you to contact the Court if you are unable to pay the amount owed without undue hardship to yourself or your dependents. You may request a hearing before a Judge to consider your ability to pay and request any non-monetary compliance options available to you. You should be prepared to explain and document your financial situation to the Court. 

Below is a list of the most common issued violations:

 **If you had liability insurance valid on the date and time the citation was issued, you may present proof of coverage for the vehicle or the driver. The violation will be dismissed once the insurance company verifies the coverage.**
