Paula Taylor was born in Beaumont, Texas, and spent her early years there before moving with her family to Indonesia, where her father worked in the oil and gas industry. She is a graduate of Harding Academy in Searcy, Arkansas, and earned a Bachelor of Science in Education from Texas A&M University in 1986.

A proud educator, Paula has served the Katy community for 30 years as a Social Studies teacher at Katy High School, where she continues to teach. She has been married to her husband, Jim Taylor, for 40 years, and they are the parents of two sons—both Katy High School graduates and members of state championship football teams.

Deeply committed to service, Paula has been an active member of the Katy Church of Christ and more recently the Fulshear Church of Christ. She also dedicated 10 years to serving the community on the Keep Katy Beautiful Board and continues to work to preserve and strengthen the quality of life in Katy.
