Elected May 2026

Johnston Dietz was elected to City Council in May 2026. He was raised in Riviera and McAllen, Texas, in a family rooted in farming and ranching. That upbringing instilled in him a strong work ethic, respect for the land, and enduring values such as responsibility, integrity, discipline, and stewardship. From an early age, Johnston developed a deep connection to the outdoors and remains an avid outdoorsman and hunter. He also has a passion for sports and values the lessons of teamwork, discipline, and competition that have influenced both his personal and professional life.

Johnston attended Texas A&M University, where he earned both a Bachelor of Science in Engineering and a Master of Science in Engineering. He later returned in 2024 to complete his MBA, earning recognition as an MBA Scholar. The education Johnston received provides a strong technical and business foundation that supports his ability to lead, solve complex challenges, and deliver practical, results-driven solutions. 

He began his career as an engineer in the energy and subsea technology sector, gaining hands-on experience on technically demanding projects. Through consistent performance and leadership, Johnston advanced into management and executive roles, where he has led operations, overseen large-scale projects, and driven organizational performance. As an executive professional, he has been responsible for improving operational efficiency, developing high-performing teams, and guiding strategic initiatives in complex, high-stakes environments. Johnston’s career reflects a combination of technical expertise, business acumen, and a disciplined approach to leadership and accountability.

In 2014, Johnston and his wife, Amy, moved to Katy, where they chose to build their home and raise their family. They are proud parents to their daughter, Karsyn, and their two sons, Jaxson and Jhett. Outside of his professional life, Johnston enjoys spending time with his family, hunting, following sports, and being outdoors whenever possible.
