What We Do
Established in 1993 by Mayor Skip Conner, the Keep Katy Beautiful Board is a proud affiliate of both Keep Texas Beautiful and Keep America Beautiful. For more than three decades, the Board has played an active role in enhancing Katy’s appearance and environmental health by promoting a clean, litter-free community and educating residents on recycling, waste reduction, landscaping, and tree planting and maintenance.
Keep Katy Beautiful works in partnership with local schools, student groups, civic organizations, and community volunteers to advance its mission through hands-on, grassroots efforts that foster civic pride and environmental stewardship.
Through a combination of City budget funds, private donations, grants, and Governor’s Community Achievement Award funding, Keep Katy Beautiful has led and supported numerous beautification initiatives throughout the City. Signature projects include the bronze geese entrance features, Harvest Plaza, landscaping surrounding the Katy Depot and Caboose, historic-style streetlights, and the Katy City Park Arboretum.
In recent years, the Board has expanded its impact with additional projects such as citywide landscaping enhancements, public art installations and murals, the historic depot clock, traffic box wraps, legacy tree plantings, and placemaking elements that enrich Katy’s public spaces. Ongoing programs like Adopt-a-Spot and the K Proud Business Program further encourage community involvement and recognize local businesses and organizations that help keep Katy clean, attractive, and welcoming.
Together, these efforts reflect Keep Katy Beautiful’s continued commitment to preserving Katy’s charm while enhancing quality of life for residents and visitors alike.
